ICHABOD: The Glory Has Departed from Emmanuel Obimma.

Rev. Fr. Eustace Onyeneke

The recent actions of Fr. Obimma have raised many eyebrows and sparked intense debate. As a Priest, his words and deeds carry significant weight and consequences. This is why his decision to become the official spokesperson of the opposition in Anambra State has become a source of reproach to the mother church.

One of the major concerns is his exploitation of religion for personal gain. It is clear that Fr. Obimma has been using his position to accumulate wealth and power, rather than serving the spiritual needs of his flock. This is a serious betrayal of the trust placed in him as a spiritual leader. This unruly incursion into politics erodes his priestly identity and defies the venerable teaching of the Church’s Magisterium of all times.

Furthermore, there are indications that Fr. Obimma and his staged fake miracles, are to attract attention and financial support. This is not only unethical but also damaging to the credibility of the Church and the Christian faith.

In addition, Fr. Obimma has been making unsubstantiated accusations against the government. As a responsible citizen, it is important to speak truth to power, but it is equally important to ensure that such criticisms are based on facts and evidence. The government may not also be unaware of the several nocturnal meetings the errant priest holds with serial election losers in the State.

Fr. Obimma's actions also appear to be motivated by a desire for attention and publicity. His frequent forays into the political arena and his tendency to court controversy have raised questions about his true intentions. Clearing every doubts that he has become the mouthpiece of disgruntled politicians in Anambra State.

As a priest — if he is still one — Fr. Obimma has a sacred duty to serve his flock and uphold the teachings of the Church. His actions should be guided by a sense of humility, compassion, and service, rather than personal ambition or greed. His recent rantings suggest otherwise and calls to question his priestly formation. At this point he needs to go back to the Seminary to learn the tenets of sacred Theology and Homilectics.

The government has a responsibility to protect the public interest and ensure that public resources are used for the common good. It cannot be intimidated or swayed by false claims or personal agendas. He needs to be reminded that inciting the public against the government is a treasonable felony, knowing that it is trite in law that “he who alleges must prove”.

Fr. Obimma's actions have fallen short of the standards expected of a spiritual leader. His pursuit of personal gain, fake miracles, and unsubstantiated accusations against the government have eroded the trust and confidence placed in him. It is time for him to reflect on his actions and seek redemption.

Security Forces in the state through a coordinated intelligence report has bursted the camp of the unknown gunmen at Akokwa, Arondizuogu after a long gun duel which resulted to the death of some of the criminals and others arrested.
