Nigerian Forest Security Service Seeks Collaboration With Soludo To Help Operation Udo Ga Achi Succeed In Anambra

From RAYMOND OZOJI

The Nigerian Forest Security Service (NFSS) has stated that collaborations with the government of Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo will go a long way to ensuring that the Operation Udo Ga Achi special intervention force records monumental achievements in the safety and security of lives and property in Anambra State.

The Deputy Commander-General (Intelligence Department) of the organisation Amb. Dr. John Metchie who spoke to HEADLINE NEWS on Wednesday, said that such collaboration was necessary because the Nigerian Forest Security Service (NFSS) according to him, know as well as understands the terrain of the forests.

Metchie stated that the Udo Ga Achi security framework was a noble idea as it is already restoring peace and calmness in most troubled areas in the state especially with the discovery and demolition of kidnappers' camps across Ànambra by men of the Agunechemba squad.

The NFSS DCG Intelligence who is also the President-General of Umueri community in Anambra-East Local Government Area noted that one of the ways in which the Anambra State Government could partner and collaborate with the organization was through Intelligence and Information gathering. He explained that intelligence gathering was a very pivotal means of winning the war against criminal insurgents.

According to him, the nomenclature of the Nigerian Forest Security Service(NFSS)suggested that their security operations are basically in the forests and they have been properly and adequately trained for the purposes of fighting crimes and criminals camping in the forests and bushes.

Metchie who is a security consultant was confident that partnership with the Anambra State Government would facilitate the success stories of the Udo Ga Achi Security Outfit as he believes that officers and men of the NFSS would be readily available to make their jobs easier especially in the hinterlands.

He was of the strong opinion that operatives of the NFSS would assist personnel of the Udo Ga Achi squad with intelligence from the forests to aid their onslaught on criminal elements.

He therefore noted that criminal activities were more pronounced in the villages and forests but according to him, the men of the Nigerian Forest Security Service have been trained to identify criminals and criminal hideouts in the forests, stressing that it is another way the NFSS can assist Operation Udo Ga Achi succeed in Anambra State.

The DCG Intelligence also pointed out that the organization  can equally provide more training for personnel of the Udo Ga Achi Security Squad especially on how to identify criminals in the forests and also arm them with the requisite know-how on intelligence gathering and recovery of the forests from hoodlums.

Metchie however thanked Governor Soludo for the launch of Operation Udo Ga Achi Security Network, noting that it is what the grassroots have been clamouring for. He added that there was need to go to the grassroots and flush criminals out because studies, according to him, have shown that criminality is more rampant in the rural areas than in the urban centres.

He observed that villages were less secured and Operation Udo Ga Achi was needed in the villages and communities to help flush criminals out while suggesting also that the Operation Udo Ga Achi special security framework should be maintained and sustained, stressing that Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo is really doing well for Ndi-Anambra.
