ANAMBRARIANS ARE SUFFERING UNDER THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION OF THE STATE

By Erikigwe Gabriel Ikenna (G.I)

It is no longer an overstatement to say that the Anambra State Government has lost focus. Recent events, coupled with the government’s apparent passiveness in addressing them, raise serious concerns. Despite claims that all is well, the reality on the ground tells a different story.

Healthcare: The Reality Behind the Free Natal Care Promise

The government claims to have provided free natal care for pregnant women, but in reality, this policy is failing. Many pregnant women in government hospitals lament that they are forced to buy essential drugs and medical supplies. Nurses openly admit that the government does not provide them with enough resources for antenatal care. This has led to situations where husbands accuse their wives of lying when they ask for money to cover these costs. Instead of relief, this so-called free healthcare program has become a source of frustration for many families.

 Security: A System in Disarray

The security situation in Anambra is deteriorating. Many have suffered under the hands of AKA ODO SECURITY, yet the government has remained silent. The newly established UDO GA ACHI security outfit, instead of maintaining law and order, is allegedly extorting money from motorists on the roads. The failure to properly train and monitor these security forces has turned them into a menace rather than a solution.

Despite claims of improved security, reports of kidnappings and killings continue daily. The people of Anambra live in fear while the government insists that all is well.

Taxation and the Burden on Commercial Drivers

Commercial drivers in Anambra State are being overtaxed by the government. Instead of creating a business-friendly environment, the current administration seems more interested in squeezing every last naira from hardworking citizens. This excessive taxation is making life difficult for transport operators and, by extension, the ordinary people who rely on them for daily movement.

Education: The Hidden Costs of “Free” Schooling

The government proudly claims to have made education free in all government schools. However, students and parents tell a different story. Hidden fees are still being charged under various guises, making a mockery of the free education promise. The reality is that many families are still struggling to afford schooling, even in public institutions.

 A Government That Silences Critics

Instead of engaging with critics and addressing public concerns, this government seems more interested in silencing dissenting voices. It has become common practice to attack and discredit anyone who questions the administration.

From the moment Governor Soludo assumed office, he has continued to distance himself from those who helped bring him to power. He wasted no time in claiming that his predecessor, Chief Willie Obiano, left nothing for him. He also dismissed Peter Obi’s investments in the state as worthless, going as far as publicly stating that Obi was not qualified to be Nigeria’s president in the 2023 elections.

 Disrespect Towards Religious Leaders

Governor Soludo has also been at odds with religious leaders in the state. He has openly criticized Fr. Ebube Muonso for urging him to improve security and has also clashed with Archbishop Valerian Okeke. A leader who disrespects men of God and disregards the moral voices of the people is setting a dangerous precedent.

 A Call for Change

Ndi Anambra, it is high time the government rose up and make Anambra lively by listening to public opinion and provide adequate security for its people. Anambra deserves better, and it is up to the people to demand accountability and good leadership.

#Watchvideo : SECURITY FORCES BURST THE CAMP OF UNKNOWN GUNMEN IN AKOKWA

Security Forces in the state through a coordinated intelligence report has bursted the camp of the unknown gunmen at Akokwa, Arondizuogu after a long gun duel which resulted to the death of some of the criminals and others arrested. These criminal elements have been known to be behind several attacks in the state such as the killing of police men in Mbaise, Aba Branch in Ehime Mbano, burning down of police stations, attack and attempted kidnapping of former Governor Ikedi Ohakim, abduction of Miss.
