Federal Government Introduces New Appointment Structure for Local Government Administration

The Federal Government has introduced a new appointment structure for local government administration under the Federal Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC). This move aims to ensure uniformity and financial accountability in local government administration.

Under the new framework, each local government will have a Chairman and Deputy Chairman, alongside key appointments covering various sectors. The designated positions include:

Chairman, who is the head of the local government administration
Deputy Chairman who Assists the Chairman and assumes the role in their absence. Secretary, responsible for the administrative functions of the local government
Supervisory Councillors who Oversee specific sectors, including: Health, Agriculture, Education/Social Services, Works, Statutory Advisers, Provide expert advice on People with Disability, Humanitarian Service & Traditional Institutions, Security, Youth Development & Community Work

According to official sources, all salaries for these appointees will be paid directly from Abuja under the FAAC system. This move is expected to promote financial accountability and transparency in local government administration.

The introduction of this new appointment structure is a significant step towards strengthening local government administration in Nigeria. It is hoped that this move will lead to more effective and efficient service delivery at the grassroots level.

Tension In Uruagu Nnewi As Community Leaders Dare Soludo,Defy Court Order
