RULAAC Urges Governor Soludo to Restore Peace in Isuaniocha

The Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC) has called on Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, to intervene in the escalating violence in Isuaniocha community, located in Awka North Local Government Area. The community is being terrorized by Mr. Anthony Onyeagolu and his armed gang, disrupting peace and preparations for a burial ceremony.

RULAAC's Executive Director, Mr. Okechukwu Nwanguma, who conveyed this urgent appeal from the Okoye family, who have been targeted by the armed assailants lately, operating from a local site referred to as the "White House."  However noted that the family is struggling to mourn their late mother and daughter, with the burial scheduled for April 24, 2025.

RULAAC therefore urged the Anambra State Government to deploy security agencies to restore order and allow the bereaved family to mourn in peace. The organization also reiterated its call for a thorough and impartial investigation to resolve the ongoing crisis in Isuaniocha.

The troubles in Isuaniocha have been ongoing since 2018, following the kidnapping and murder of community youth leader Angus Okoye. Anthony Onyeagolu, however accused of masterminding the murder, was arrested in 2022 after evading arrest for two years. However, attempts have been made to distort the investigation and undermine justice.

The Isuaniocha community has appealed to Governor Soludo to uphold justice, fairness, and stability in the face of adversity. They emphasize the need for a thorough investigation into the detention of their youth leader and the restoration of security measures to safeguard their rights and peace of mind.

RULAAC's call for immediate action highlights the need for the state government to address the systemic failures that have plagued Isuaniocha for far too long. The community remains resolute in their quest for truth and accountability, hoping for a resolution to the violence and insecurity that has disrupted their lives.
