In a remarkable gesture of compassion, Hon. Afam Ezenwafor, founder of the Afamation Movement Worldwide, has donated nine newly built bungalows to widows drawn from the nine villages of Ekwulobia community in Aguata Local Government Area.
The project, executed in collaboration with the Ositadinma Foundation, was commissioned at a colourful ceremony attended by government officials, political leaders, and community stakeholders. Each of the beneficiaries, carefully selected from one of the nine villages, received keys to a two-to-four-bedroom bungalow, depending on land availability.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Ezenwafor said the gesture was inspired by love and a commitment to service, rather than politics.
“The driving force is love. The first and last commandment of God is love. The only way to worship God is by loving your neighbour as yourself,” he said. “I have always been a giver, and I pray for the grace to build at least 50 houses for widows within the next eight years.”
The beneficiaries, overwhelmed with joy, expressed their gratitude through tears, songs, and dances. Among them were Mrs. Tochukwu Iloh (Agba Village), Mrs. Ezekonkwo Chikaodili (Nkono Village), Mrs. Lovina Ezeokeke (Ula Village), Mrs. Francisca Eberechukwu Ezeokeke (Okpo Village), Mrs. Regina Ezeokeke (Ihuokpala Village), Mrs. Leticia Ezenwosu (Umuchi Village), Mrs. Onwumelu Ijeoma (Abogwume Village), Mrs. Fidelia Chukwuemeka Okeke (Eziagulu Village), and Mrs. Chika Chukwuneke Nwosu (Umuchiana Village).
Commending the initiative, the Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, described it as timely and aligned with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s agenda of uplifting the less privileged. Similarly, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Ifeyinwa Obinabo, lauded the project as “a giant stride in putting smiles on the faces of widows.”
Other dignitaries, including Barr. Donald Chidi Amamgbo, senatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rt. Hon. Ikem Uzoezie, and the President-General of Ekwulobia, Chief Azubuike Ezechukwu, praised Hon. Ezenwafor for his generosity and urged others to emulate his example.
Deputy Chairman of Aguata LGA, Hon. Kingsley Ezeagu, joined the Afamation Movement team in handing over one of the houses at Ihuokpala village.
Community leaders however emphasized that beyond providing shelter, the donation restored dignity, hope, and unity across the nine villages of Ekwulobia.
