National Assembly Unveils Burial Plans for Former Speaker Agunwa Anaekwe

The National Assembly, through a joint burial committee, has announced the official arrangements for the final rites of the late former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Agunwa Anaekwe. The announcement was made at a World Press Conference held at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja, by the committee comprising members of the Senate, House of Representatives, family, and close associates of the late lawmaker.

Chairman of the Burial Committee and Chairman, Senate Committee on Capital Market and Institutions, Senator Osita Izunaso, paid glowing tributes to the late parliamentarian after leading a minute’s silence in his honour. He described Anaekwe’s passing at the age of 69 as a huge loss to his family, the Southeast, and Nigeria at large.

“Chief Anaekwe left at a time his wisdom, experience, and political guidance were most needed,” Sen. Izunaso said, urging Nigerians to take solace in God’s will.

5pm: Wake Keep at his country home

Among dignitaries present at the press conference were former Governor of Anambra State, Senator Chris Ngige; Vice Chairman of APC South East, Dr. Ijeomah Anadiogbu; Senior Advocate of Nigeria, BC Igwilo, who serves as Chairman of the Local Organising Committee; Hon. Bartholomew Anaekwe, brother of the deceased; as well as two of the late Speaker’s sons and other close associates.

Rt. Hon. Agunwa Anaekwe served as Speaker of the House of Representatives during the 3rd National Assembly between 1992 and 1993.

The committee noted that any updates to the programme will be communicated through official channels.

Tension In Uruagu Nnewi As Community Leaders Dare Soludo,Defy Court Order

The President of Uruagu-Nnewi Development Union, Chief Sunday Okoli aka Organizer, and the Obi of Uruagu-Nnewi community in Nnewi North local government area of Anambra State, His Majesty Afamefuna Charles Obi, have swept Soludo's directive to the gutters, by reason of their suspension and subsequent dessolution of the leadership of the community's youth forum, led by Ejike Ifejiofor, and subsequent appointment of caretaker executive to pilot the affairs of youths in the community.
