Passengers Decry Recklessness as “Nothing Pass God” Transport Defies FRSC Directive, Overloads Vehicle for Night Journey


There is growing public anger over the conduct of “Nothing Pass God” Transport Company after one of its vehicles, identified as 1257 AWK ZC, embarked on the overloading of its vehicle on a night journey in defiance of a directive by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) restricting such. 

The vehicle, reportedly meant to operate within the bounds of proper passenger carrage, departed its terminal late   tonight heavily overloaded with passengers and goods, in what many described as a blatant violation of safety regulations.

Passengers who spoke to out against such violation expressed disappointment and fear over what they called the company’s “irresponsible and reckless” attitude toward their safety. They said that despite earlier assurances from management that no vehicle would be overloaded, company staff insisted on proceeding with the trip “to avoid losing money.”

One passenger, identified as Ngozi, narrated her experience:

“We were told the vehicle that we booked earlier for the journey was faulty and was undergoing maintenance, which warranted them to bring a smaller vehile, yet they kept squeezing in more passengers and luggage. The driver, who called himself J.J., even boasted that he was untouchable and threatened to drop anyone who dared to report the situation to the authorities.”

Reports suggest that vehicles of the same category had earlier been blacklisted by the FRSC from engaging in night travel due to safety breaches and mechanical faults discovered during routine inspection. Despite this, the company allegedly ignored the directive, endangering the lives of innocent travelers.

A source within the transport sector condemned the development as “a clear case of corporate negligence,” warning that the company’s disregard for FRSC regulations reflects a wider culture of impunity among some private transport operators in Anambra State, who feel they are untouchable. 

Public transport users and civil society groups have since called on the Anambra State Ministry of Transport and the FRSC to investigate the matter and impose appropriate sanctions on “Nothing Pass God” Transport Company to serve as a deterrent to others.

Efforts to reach the management of the company for comments were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.

The passengers are calling on  the Police and FRSC officials to investigate this incident call the company to other as the vehicle is presently enroute Abuja from Onitsha
