Prince Johnpaul Udoaku Elected Non-Teaching Staff Representative on Federal Polytechnic Oko Governing Council

The Head of the Department of Management Information and Communication Technology (MICT) at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Prince Johnpaul Udoaku, has been elected as the Non-Teaching Staff Representative in the institution’s Governing Council.

In the keenly contested by-election, Prince Udoaku secured a total of 146 votes, defeating Mr. Norbert Okoli, who garnered 29 votes, and Ms. Amara Nwosu, who polled 9 votes.

The election results were announced by the Deputy Rector (Academic), Dr. Nkiru Akabuike, during an emergency congregation meeting held at the Polytechnic Auditorium, Extension Site.

In her remarks, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, commended the conduct of the election, describing it as peaceful, transparent, and devoid of rancour. She expressed satisfaction that the by-election was free from the blackmail, campaign of calumny, and financial inducement that had sometimes marred previous contests in the institution.

Dr. Awuzie lauded the election moderators and the entire polytechnic community for their orderly participation and commitment to democratic principles.

Also speaking, Comrade Chibuzo Asomugha praised the 12th Governing Council Chairman, Senator Dr. Bananas Germade, for his visionary leadership, urging the newly elected member, Prince Udoaku, to remain humble and open-minded as he joins the Council.

Other members of staff who congratulated the new council representative included Comrade Chigozie Udeze, Mrs. Grace Ezeudensi, Comrade Innocent Okeke, and Comrade Nzeh Christian Charlesmary, who all expressed confidence in his capacity to represent the interests of the non-teaching staff effectively.

In his acceptance speech, Prince Johnpaul Udoaku expressed deep appreciation to the Rector, the management, and the entire congregation for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to justify their trust by serving with integrity, dedication, and transparency in the Governing Council.
