YPP Dismisses Hon. Uzokwe’s Claim, Reaffirms Support for Paul Chukwuma in Anambra Governorship Election

The Young Progressives Party (YPP), Anambra State Chapter, has refuted claims allegedly made by Hon. Peter Uzokwe, member representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, suggesting that the party has no candidate in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025.

In a strongly worded statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Prince Oforbuike Okoli-Egbo, the party described Uzokwe’s remarks as “bogus, laughable, and a desperate attempt to remain politically relevant.”

According to the YPP, Hon. Uzokwe — who was elected on the platform of the party has neither participated in any party activity nor convened a meeting with party members since his election, thereby lacking the moral and political standing to speak on behalf of the YPP in Anambra State.

“His self-acclaimed leadership is as empty as his record of performance in office,” the statement read. “But for the influence and political goodwill of the late Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Ubah, and the dedication of our grassroots supporters in Nnewi South and Ekwusigo, Hon. Uzokwe would not have emerged victorious at the polls.”

The party also recalled that Uzokwe lost in his polling unit at Egbema Community Primary School, Ozubulu Ward 3, describing it as “a clear testimony to his limited political influence and disconnection from his people.”

The statement further described the lawmaker as “a political destitute and an accidental legislator whose inconsistency and lack of ideological direction have made him a failure.”

“From being YPP in the morning to APC by noon and APGA by dusk, Hon. Uzokwe’s political journey reflects a man without conviction or principle,” the YPP declared.

Reaffirming its position ahead of the election, the party emphasized that it has a “vibrant and credible candidate” in Sir Paul Chukwuma, who it said embodies the YPP’s vision for a “prosperous and progressive Anambra State.”

The statement highlighted Chukwuma’s campaign framework encapsulated in the acronym HIS, which stands for:

H – Human Capital Development

I – Infrastructure

S – Security

The YPP urged the public to disregard Hon. Uzokwe’s claims, describing them as “the rantings of a politically stranded individual seeking relevance through mischief.”

“Ndi Anambra are politically aware and ready to make a bold statement at the polls by voting YPP and Sir Paul Chukwuma for a new era of growth and transformation,” the statement concluded.
