Amadi set to Join APP, Signals Strong Push for Imo 2027

The Action People’s Party (APP) has announced that Mazi Chima Matthew Amadi, PhD, will formally join its ranks today, December 31, 2025, in a move widely seen as a potential game changer in Imo State’s political equation ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The signed by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Cajetan Duke, JP, expressed confidence that the party’s expanding coalition would usher in what he described as “a new dawn” for Imo State.

The declaration ceremony will hold at Umuekwenne, Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area, and is expected to draw party leaders, supporters and stakeholders from across the state.

The APP has described Amadi’s decision to align with the party as a “vote of confidence” in its ideology and reform-driven agenda, noting that his entry adds renewed momentum to its growing influence in Imo politics.

Party leaders said Amadi’s reputation for principled leadership, administrative experience and commitment to public service aligns with the APP’s vision of transparent, accountable and people-centred governance. They argued that his defection reflects growing public discontent with traditional political structures and a search for credible alternatives.

With the 2027 governorship contest gradually taking shape, the APP said Amadi’s declaration marks what it called “the beginning of Imo 2027,” positioning the party as a serious contender rather than a fringe alternative.

The party also extended an open invitation to professionals, youths, women groups, traditional rulers and other stakeholders across the state to join its platform, which it said is free from godfatherism and built on equal opportunity and collective ownership.

Reaffirming its readiness for governance, the APP pledged to pursue the development of Imo State through its Imo SEE Agenda, centred on security, education and economic revitalisation.
