Eastland Electricity Honours Outstanding Staff at End-of-Year Celebration

The Management of Eastland Electricity Distribution Limited (EEDL), a subsidiary of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) Plc responsible for electricity distribution in Ebonyi State, has celebrated its workforce for dedication, teamwork and outstanding performance at its End-of-Year Party and Staff Recognition Awards ceremony.

The event, held over the weekend in a warm and convivial atmosphere, brought together management and staff to reflect on the year’s achievements and recognise excellence across departments.
Speaking at the occasion, the Managing Director of EEDL, Engr. Nnamdi Chuka-Nwosu, commended staff for their resilience, commitment and remarkable accomplishments during the year, describing the gathering as a moment of gratitude, reflection and renewed hope.
“It has been a wonderful year and a remarkable experience working with all of you. You have been awesome. You have achieved new milestones, some of which once seemed unthinkable. It is only natural that we come together as one family to appreciate ourselves and, above all, thank God for making it possible,” Chuka-Nwosu said.

He noted that the celebration marked the beginning of even greater achievements for the company, urging staff to relax, celebrate their successes and remain optimistic about the future.

In his remarks, the Chief Commercial Officer of EEDL, Mr. Cyprian Nwankwegu, applauded the workforce for its diligence and dedication, describing the year as particularly demanding yet rewarding for the Commercial team.

“We give God the glory that despite the intensity of our operations, no life was lost. The cooperation between the Commercial and Operations teams has been commendable, and this collective effort made our achievements possible,” he said.
Also speaking, the Chief Technical Officer, Engr. Obinna Nwachukwu, expressed appreciation to staff across all departments for their unwavering support and professionalism. He highlighted key milestones recorded by the Operations and Technical teams, particularly in the areas of safety and service delivery.

“Safety remains paramount. This year, we recorded zero accidents, which is a testament to the discipline, professionalism and commitment of our staff. Without life, no achievement is possible,” he stated, while encouraging staff to sustain and surpass current standards.

At the ceremony, a total of 40 staff members were honoured with awards for outstanding and exemplary performance in various categories, including Best Customer Service Representative, Best Operations Technician, Best Operations Maintenance Supervisor (OMS) and Best Marketer.

In a demonstration of inclusive leadership, the Managing Director also presented an award to the Best Cleaner, emphasising the importance of support staff in maintaining a conducive work environment.

“Your work is essential. Without you, even for one day, our offices would not be habitable,” he said.

The event was further enlivened by interactive sessions, during which the Managing Director engaged staff with questions and presented cash prizes, adding excitement and boosting morale.

Speaking on behalf of the award recipients, Mr. John Obaji expressed gratitude to the Managing Director for his inclusive leadership style and commitment to staff welfare, noting visible improvements in promotion processes and overall staff wellbeing since his assumption of office.

“A lot has changed positively under your leadership. We are grateful and we promise to continue to give our best to ensure that EEDL remains the best subsidiary under EEDC,” he said.

In his closing remarks, Chuka-Nwosu again appreciated all departments and staff for their collective and individual contributions, reiterating that customers remain the core reason for the company’s existence. He urged staff to sustain their commitment and raise the bar as the company positions itself for greater milestones in 2026.
