Metchie Hails Enugu Governor For Equipping Trained Forest Guards With Sophisticated Guns To Fight Kidnappers, Terrorists

...Lauds Tinubu's Choice Of Defence Minister

Anambra-born international security expert Amb. Dr. John Metchie has commended Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State for equipping very well-trained forest security guards with sophisticated guns and other technologically-driven gadgets to fight Kidnappers, bandits and other terrorist groups operating in the forest regions.

Metchie also commended Governor Mbah for the launch of security drones with capacities to mount surveillance in the entire Enugu state and beyond; describing it as a high profile initiative intended to detect as well as nip criminal activities in the bud.

Giving the commendations in an exclusive interview with this journalist, the security expert, said Governor Mbah's decision to train and equip forest guards with state-of-the-art security apparatus was a bold and courageous step taken in the right direction inorder to combat criminal insurgents lurking in the forested areas of the state.

Metchie said Governor Mbah has set the template for local security services in the Southeast region of the country and that his counterparts in the region should borrow a leaf from his security innovations especially as it concerns the training and retraining of local security operatives like the forest guards.

The security expert who praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's choice of defence minister, maintained that the nomination of General Christopher Gwabin Musa as the new Minister of Defence, marked a watershed in the protection of the territorial integrity of the nation as he believes that with the new Defence Minister, the National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and the forest guards, the nation's ungoverned regions will get watertight security henceforth.

He was of the opinion that engaging forest guards is of paramount importance as oversea countries like South Africa, United States of America, Canada and some others deploy forest guards to comb the forests; adding that Enugu state governor has got it right and in the next couple of weeks, the state will start reaping the dividends of his security initiatives.

He therefore congratulated Governor Peter Mbah for establishing and equipping forest guards and urged other governors of the Southeast to emulate him rather than recruiting and giving firearms to untrained vigilante operatives which he said were more security threats to the citizenry even as he commended the Enugu state Commander-General of the forest guards for his purposeful leadership.
