2027 Elections: Amb Lotanna Ikebunwa Emerges Key Grassroots Force in ADC, Expands Party Structures Across Nnewi Constituency

As political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, a frontline aspirant for the House of Representatives seat in Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, Ikebunwa Lotanna, is gaining prominence within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for his growing grassroots influence and investment in party development.

Party stakeholders describe his efforts as a notable demonstration of commitment and organizational capacity, following his reported funding and establishment of ward offices across Nnewi North Local Government Area. The offices, numbering ten, have been secured, equipped, and made operational, marking a significant shift from what observers say was previously a limited party presence at the grassroots level.

In addition to providing physical structures, Ikebunwa is said to have supported party mobilization efforts at the ward level. In Nnewichi Ward 1, he reportedly extended financial assistance to executives aimed at strengthening outreach, while enhancing the party’s local engagement.

Political observers note that such investments reflect a strategic approach to party building, particularly at a time when grassroots structures are increasingly seen as critical to electoral success. His supporters argue that this level of involvement positions him as a serious contender for the party’s ticket in the constituency.

Ikebunwa, who previously served as a Special Assistant on Grassroots Mobilization to the late Ifeanyi Ubah, is credited with experience in political organization and community-based engagement, as analysts say this could play a role in shaping the party’s prospects in the constituency at the main elections, in contrast to those whose interests is to pick party nomination are trade with it. 

In a recent chat with him, Amb Lotanna Ikebunwa while speaking on his political agenda,emphasized the importance of building a strong and visible party presence across all wards, describing grassroots development as central to sustainable political success. He also cited the leadership philosophy of Peter Obi as a source of inspiration, particularly in advocating reforms and accountable governance.

He further called on party stakeholders across Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo to work collaboratively towards strengthening the ADC’s structure and expanding its influence ahead of the elections.

With increasing political activities in the constituency, analysts suggest that candidates with strong grassroots networks and organizational backing may play a decisive role in shaping the outcome of the 2027 polls. For now, Ikebunwa’s growing visibility within the ADC signals a developing contest as parties prepare for the electoral cycle.

Federal Polytechnic Oko Holds Two-Day Recruitment Interview to Address Staff Shortages
