Global Peace and sustainability Network condemns the killing of a youth by Police in Otoko

The above mentioned organization in a press release referenced,  GPSN/OF/107/19 4th July, 2019
 Condemned in strong terms the killing of extra judicial killing and destruction of  Otoko Police station in Umuoke Obowo.

Global Peace and Sustainability Network (GPSN), an advocacy organization anchored on actualizing peace through community participation and involvement have received a disturbing report of the face-off between some youths and the police at Otoko police station in Obowo LGA as a result of the alleged killing of a youth by the police hereby state as follows:

1. Condemn the killing of a youth in his prime by the alleged killer cop.
2. Condemn the actions of some youths in the destruction of a police station as that amounts to self-help and is unacceptable in a constitutional democracy.
3. Commiserate with the family of Late Ikenna Ogbunigwe over his untimely death as a result of an alleged unprofessional conduct of a police officer of the Otoko police station.
4. Commend the timely intervention and visit of His Excellency Governor Emeka Ihedioha to dowse tension resulting from the aforementioned incident.
5. Commend the Commissioner of Police Imo State Command (Rabiu Ladodo) for his prompt dispatch and intervention.
6. GPSN commends the Traditional Rulers of Obowo for their quick response and advocacy for peace.
7. Commend the Honourable member representing Obowo state constituency, Town Union President and youth groups for their dogged contributions in sueing for peace.
8. We appeal to the Police commissioner and police authorities to fish out the alleged killer cop, conduct proper investigation and possible prosecution.

9. GPSN has mobilized/dispatched our Professional reconciliatory team to obowo to join other law enforcement agencies to ensure the return of peace and normalcy in the various communities in Obowo.
10. GPSN shall sponsor 20 youths (2 each electoral ward) for the forthcoming world peace day seminar.

Finally, we appeal to well-meaning individuals in Obowo to rise up to the occasion and help restore lasting peace in order to foster harmonious relationship with the police for the enhancement of community policing.
GPSN whilst contributing to the peace and healing process, will strive to engage all stakeholders and the bereaved family for a mutual and beneficial resolution.

BREAKING: 2Baba Shot Dead In Rivers State

A notorious cult leader and the prime suspect in the brutal murder of the late Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim, in the state, Gift Okpara, popularly referred to as 2Baba, has been reportedly killed in a police-led major security raid. The police and other security agencies were said to have conducted land and aerial raids at the identical hideout of the Iceland cult leader and his gang at Idu-Ekpeye in Ahoada East local government area of Rivers on Saturday, February 17. According to  The Nation , the Iceland cult leader was reportedly feared dead after the operation.   Recall that in September 2023, the late DPO was ambushed and captured by the cult group led by 2Baba in the Odiemudie community, Ahoada East LGA.   2Baba and his gang then took the DPO to the forest, where they killed him and dismembered his body. The cultists then filmed him. Another source, Obi, said he saw no less than 15 vehicles and an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) during the operation.
