Says he is the brain behind insecurity in Anambra, asks security agencies to call him to order
Oraifite community in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State have debunked the claims by one of their son's Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, who is also a Lawyer to the detained leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu of his accusations that Sir Emeka Offor wants to assassinate him. Rather they have stated in clear terms that he is behind the activities of gunmen in the State and the South East region respectfully.
The community’s need to put the records straight, was borne out of followed the recent kidnap and killing of a 38-year-old youth leader who stood for the truth in a rift between the Lawyer and CEO of Chrome Group, Chief Sir Emeka Offor.
In a press briefing , held on Sunday the 4th of February 2024 at Oraifite civic center, during a general meeting of the community, accused Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor of using one of their customs Otube an extension of "Otueke" which is the main organization, which was formerly used for enforcement of laws and order to kidnap, kill, harass and intimidate members of the community including Sir Emeka Offor as well, and for that reason for the banning of the activities of the "Otueke" has been established and is in force now in the community presently.
According to the community President General, Chief Vincent Dike, who spoke on behalf of the community, told journalists that they are currently living in fear because of the activities of Bar Ifeanyi Ejiofor and his cohorts,whose stock in trade is to intimidate, malign and most times maim those who do not aling to their criminal intents.
"This press conference is called to let the World know the activities of Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor towards his us, his people and the man who made him who he is today in the society.
"Barrister Ejiofor is one the major beneficiaries of Sir Emeka Offor's humanitarian gesture in Oraifite town. He was trained by Sir Emeka Ofor from Secondary to University education, and as well placed in one of the revered law firms on the country after youth service in Abuja.
"But today, his benefactor has become his greatest enemy . He has also extended his hatred to our entire community, a community that trained and protected him. He uses 'Otueke' an organisation filled with all manners of youths, mostly from his Umunakwa kindred to unleash terror on us.
"About 95 percentage of kidnappings, killings and other criminal activities in our community today, is been sponsored by Barr Ifeanyi Ejiofor with support from his Umunakwa kindred. Because of this, he has not been holding meeting's with us for the past 15 years as an Oraifite indigene.
" That not withstanding, he is also our industrious son. A brilliant lawyer and a well educated fellow for that matter. We want him to come home, so that we will settle the differences he has with Sir Emeka Ofor, the PG pleaded.
He called on the State Government, the Police and other security agencies to intervene on the matter to ensure that Oraifite, Ekwusigo and Anambra is safe.
The Traditional ruler of the Community, Igwe Daniel Udorji, who also spoke on the development, said the rift is being mastermind by some disgruntled elements to paint the community black, a situation he said would no longer be accepted.
He however appealed to the people of the community to rise up and defend Sir Emeka Offor from his enemies who do not want him to continue his humanitarian services to the people of the town, Anambra State, Nigeria and and the World as a whole.
Adding his voice, Sir Tony Obi said it's unfortunate that someone like Barr Ifeanyi Ejiofor allowed himself to be used to fight his benefactor, and called on him to retrace his steps.
When contacted for his reactions, Barrister Ejiofor denied all the accusations levelled against him. He said those accusing him of any wrong does not represent the voice of Oraifite community but are simply Emeka Offor’s puppets who he handpicks for his selfish interests and personal bidding.
He said he is just a legal representative to Otu-Eke registered group in Oraifite just like other groups i represent but noted that his house was burnt in Oraifite among other personal losses because of this while there is no criminal record anywhere associated with his name both in Oraifite community and elsewhere.
Ejiofor noted that the genesis of his travails was the criminal invasion of his ancestral home at the alleged instance of Chief Offor on 6th June 2021 by some security agents which led to the death of his personal assistant late Mr Samuel Okoro who was dumped inside his car booth and later set ablaze after dumping his body in Neni community, in Anaocha LGA, Anambra state.
He said that three of his wards were also taken away during the criminal invasion and have not been seen alive or dead till date while his offence has been his effrontery to challenge Chief Offor’s alleged atrocious acts in Oraifite community.
“I was in the village in Oraifite for 18 days during the Christmas period and in between this period, I got credible intelligence report that another assassination plot against me has been concluded in Emeka Offor’s house using the Motherland armed group , a non state actors group loyal to him. I participate in activities in Oraifite and we have our own recognised town union association not the one populated by Offor’s lackeys” he said.
He regretted that he has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, the DSS, and Army headquarters over the attack on him and consistent threats to his life but nothing has been done about his complaints.
