Ozigbo Joins Gambari, others, calls for Restructuring and Nation-Building for Nigeria's Progress

Distinguished Nigerians, including Valentine Ozigbo, a respected business leader and 2025 Anambra governorship hopeful, gathered at the 14th Chief Emeka Anyaoku Lecture Series in Enugu to discuss the imperative of good governance in Nigeria. The event, themed "Imperative of Good Governance in Nigeria," brought together statesmen, scholars, and stakeholders to deliberate on the challenges and pathways towards strengthening Nigeria's democratic governance.

The Keynote speaker Professor Gambari, in his submission proposed a comprehensive reform agenda, emphasizing the need for a new constitution, restructuring, decentralization of governmental powers, and a leadership recruitment process that prioritizes credibility and elite consensus. He also stressed the importance of retooling the state's role as a guarantor of security and ensuring equal rights regardless of birthplace or residence.

In the same vein, Ozigbo echoed on Gambari's sentiments, underscoring the urgency of rethinking Nigeria's foundational structure. He said, "Without fixing our foundation, we cannot hope to achieve the kind of governance Nigeria needs and deserves". Ozigbo warned that the current instances of good governance are unsustainable without deliberate systemic design and called for a collective demand for structural reform.

The lecture series concluded with a renewed call for bold reforms aimed at securing Nigeria's future as a united and prosperous nation. The event was praised for its intellectual depth and quality of discourse, with attendees calling for follow-through action that matches the clarity of diagnosis and urgency voiced during the sessions.

The 14th Chief Emeka Anyaoku Lecture Series has indeed sent a strong message to Nigerians: that restructuring and nation-building are imperative for the country's progress. It's envisaged that by working together, Nigerians can build a stronger, more prosperous nation for all.
