FCT Council Polls: ADC Leaders Rally Voters in Gwarinpa, Urge Massive Turnout

Leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Wednesday intensified their grassroots mobilisation ahead of the February 21 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections, engaging residents in Gwarinpa and urging them to support the party’s candidates at the polls.

Among those present was former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who was joined by former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and other senior figures of the party.

Speaking during the outreach, the ADC leaders described the forthcoming elections as a critical test of Nigeria’s democratic process, stressing that the conduct of the polls would reflect the readiness of electoral authorities to deliver free, fair and credible elections.

They also framed the election as an opportunity for residents of the FCT to make a decisive political statement about governance and accountability.

Addressing voters, the ADC leaders urged residents to turn out in large numbers and cast their ballots for the party’s candidates across all area councils in Abuja, assuring them that the ADC had fielded individuals with the competence, capacity and character to provide effective grassroots leadership.

They further called on voters to resist any form of intimidation and exercise their civic responsibility without fear.

In a strong critique of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the ADC leadership accused the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of failing to address key national challenges, including economic instability, insecurity and declining standards in the education sector.

According to the party, the prevailing economic hardship and rising insecurity underscore the need for a change in leadership, beginning with the FCT council elections.

The ADC maintained that the February 21 polls present a strategic starting point for broader political change, urging Abuja residents to use their votes to chart a new course for governance at the grassroots level.
