Dr Awuzie’s Transformation Drive Sparks Praise as Enugu/Ebonyi Staff Hail Fed Poly Oko Rebirth

The Enugu/Ebonyi Staff Welfare Association of Federal Polytechnic Oko has commended the institution’s Rector, Chioma Irene Awuzie, for what it described as significant strides in infrastructure development, staff and student welfare, and academic advancement.

The commendation was conveyed during a courtesy visit to the Rector at her office, where the association expressed solidarity with her administration and acknowledged her contributions to the growth of the institution.

In a letter jointly signed by the association’s Chairman, Emeka Icha Ituma, and Secretary, Ursula Nkechi Ugwoke, the group said the visit was also to identify with the Rector, who spent part of her early life in Ihe, Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The association noted that within a relatively short period, Dr. Awuzie has repositioned the polytechnic through a series of impactful projects and reforms.

Among the projects highlighted were the construction of a security building, the activation of the polytechnic’s bread factory, and the revitalisation of its water factory. The group also cited the resuscitation of the printing press with modern facilities, the reactivation of the skill acquisition centre, and the construction of an ultramodern medical centre at the Ufuma campus.

It further acknowledged improvements in welfare packages for both staff and students, describing the Rector’s leadership as purposeful and result-oriented.

The association pledged its continued support to the Rector and the institution’s management in sustaining the ongoing reforms.

Responding, Dr. Awuzie expressed appreciation for the visit and the show of support, while reflecting on her personal ties to Enugu State.

“I was born in Ihe, Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, where my father served as a vice principal at the Teachers Training College,” she said.

She added that her upbringing also included time in Nsukka, where she attended Central School II, noting that her background reflects a strong connection to both Anambra and Enugu states.

“I thank you for this solidarity and your assurance of support,” the Rector said.

Tinubu Appoints Chioma Awuzie Substantive Rector, Fed Poly Oko

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie as the substantive Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State.  Dr. Awuzie's appointment, which takes effect immediately for a five-year term, follows the recommendation of the Polytechnic's Governing Council, chaired by Sen.
