The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Sector Command, has rescued an unidentified male adult found unconscious along the Awka–Enugu Expressway and has launched an appeal to the public to assist in identifying him.
The incident occurred in the early hours of April 8, 2026, when FRSC operatives discovered the victim in distress by the roadside opposite the Corps’ office along the busy expressway. According to the Command, the rescue team arrived at the scene within minutes and evacuated the victim promptly.
Despite showing no visible signs of injury, the man was reportedly unconscious at the time of rescue. He was immediately conveyed to the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital for urgent medical attention. Authorities said the circumstances leading to the incident remain unclear, as no eyewitness account was available.
A follow-up visit by FRSC officials to the hospital on April 13 revealed that while other crash victims earlier admitted had been discharged, the rescued man remained unconscious. Medical personnel confirmed that efforts to ascertain his identity have so far been unsuccessful, as he has yet to regain consciousness and no relatives have come forward.
The Sector Commander, Bridget Asekhauno, commended the swift response of the rescue team, reiterating the Corps’ commitment to saving lives and providing post-crash care.
“Our mandate is to save lives,” she said, urging members of the public to support ongoing efforts to identify the victim. “We appeal to anyone with useful information to come forward or contact the FRSC. Members of the public are also encouraged to use our toll-free emergency line, 122, to report crashes or distressed persons.”
The Command assured that it would continue to prioritize prompt rescue operations, public enlightenment, and collaboration with relevant stakeholders to enhance road safety across the state.
Authorities have urged anyone with information that could help identify the victim to contact the FRSC immediately.
