Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Assassination Plot: Baseless and Inflammatory, Akpabio

The Office of the President of the Senate has issued a strong statement condemning the recent allegations made by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of plotting to assassinate her. The statement signed by RT Hon. Eseme Eyiboh the spokesperson to the Senate President describes the allegations as baseless, false, and inflammatory.

According to the statement, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan claimed that Senator Akpabio recruited former Governor Yahaya Bello to assassinate her in Kogi State. However, the Office of the President of the Senate maintains that this accusation is a complete fabrication and a desperate attempt to provoke public unrest and discredit the person and office of the President of the Senate.

This is not the first time Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has made unsubstantiated claims against Senator Akpabio. Previously, she had accused him of sexual harassment, a claim that was later abandoned without explanation ¹.

The statement also highlights a similar allegation made by former Senator Elisha Abbo, who claimed that Senator Akpabio manipulated the judiciary to secure his removal from the Senate. However, this claim was previously retracted and apologized for by Mr. Abbo in 2023.

The Office of the President of the Senate is seeking immediate public retractions, apologies, and compensation for reputational harm from both Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan and Mr. Abbo. The statement calls on the Nigerian public and the international community to reject these baseless and provocative narratives.
