Police, Federal Polytechnic Oko Unite to Tackle Security Challenges

In a bid to strengthen security measures and develop strategies to address security challenges, the Anambra State Police Command yesterday hosted the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Mrs. Chioma Irene Amuzie, and the Head of Federal Establishments in Anambra State, Mr. Chijoke Okechukwu.

The meeting, which took place at the police command headquarters in Awka, was led by Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu. The police boss emphasized the need for greater cooperation between the police and the polytechnic management to enhance security measures.

CP Orutugu referenced a recent incident where armed criminals shot and wounded four people, including a lady, and abducted two others near the polytechnic. He expressed regret over the incident and assured the visitors that the police are working tirelessly to apprehend the perpetrators.

The Rector and the Head of Federal Establishments appreciated the police for their prompt response to the incident, which prevented further loss of life and property. They pledged to assist the police in stepping up surveillance and providing necessary information to aid in the ongoing investigation.

The meeting was attended by senior police officers, and CP Orutugu presented a gift to the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Oko as a gesture of goodwill. The meeting demonstrates the police command's proactive approach to security and community engagement.
