ADC Unveils New Interim Leadership at Landmark NEC Meeting

....As Senator David Mark, Aregbesola Take Helm as Party Charts Fresh Direction

ABUJA

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Tuesday convened its 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, ushering in a new era of leadership with the swearing-in of former Senate President, Senator David Mark, as Interim National Chairman and ex-Osun State Governor, Ogbenu Rauf Aregbesola, as Interim National Secretary.

In his inaugural address, Senator Mark emphasized the party’s commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and inclusivity. He pledged that 35% of leadership positions would be reserved for women and that youth under the age of 40 would play active roles in the party’s decision-making process. He also announced the constitution of a 50-member Policy Committee to review ADC’s manifesto and spearhead reform across key national sectors.

Outgoing National Chairman, Hon. Ralph Nwosu, commended the ADC for its principled stance against political pressure and financial inducements. “We said no to dictatorship. We stood our ground for democracy,” he declared, citing the party’s refusal to compromise its values in the face of efforts to turn Nigeria into a one-party state.

In a major reconciliation move, the NEC reinstated previously expelled members, excluding former presidential candidate Dumebi Kachikwu. A motion was unanimously adopted to dissolve the former National Working Committee (NWC) and Board of Trustees (BoT), granting full authority to the interim leadership pending the next national congresses.

The meeting was closely monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
