BREAKING: Tinubu Honours Super Falcons with National Awards, N150m Each, and Three-Bedroom Flats

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has conferred the prestigious national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on all 24 players and 11 technical crew members of Nigeria’s Super Falcons following their historic victory at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

During a grand reception held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, President Tinubu also announced generous rewards of $100,000 (approximately N150 million) for each player and $50,000 (N75 million) for each member of the technical crew. In addition, every team member received a three-bedroom apartment as part of the government’s appreciation package.

The President praised the team for their resilience and exceptional performance, particularly their dramatic comeback from a two-goal deficit to defeat Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses 3-2 in the final, securing Nigeria's 10th WAFCON title.

The Super Falcons were warmly received at the Villa by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila. In a post-match video call, President Tinubu commended team captain and tournament MVP Rasheedat Ajibade for her leadership and inspiring performance.

"This is more than a football victory; it is a symbol of the Nigerian spirit — never giving up, even in the face of adversity,” the President stated.
