Repositioning Oko Polytechnic: Prince Okoli-Egbo Rallies Stakeholders, Backs Rector Awuzie at Alumni Inauguration

Prince Oforbuike Okoli-Egbo, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate for the Anambra South Senatorial bye-election, has reaffirmed his commitment to the growth and advancement of educational institutions in Anambra,  with emphasis on schools in Anambra South Senatorial District, as he graced the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected National Executive of the Federal Polytechnic Oko Alumni Association on Thursday, 31st July 2025.

Speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the event held at the Alumni National Secretariat within the Polytechnic, Prince Okoli-Egbo described Federal Polytechnic Oko as “a major educational landmark in Orumba and a pride of Anambra South.” He praised the Rector, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, for her visionary leadership, especially her dedication to repositioning the image and credibility of the institution. “Dr. Awuzie’s call for peace and unity within the Alumni ranks is timely and worthy of every stakeholder’s full support,” he said. “The Polytechnic is not just a school; it is a breeding ground for leaders, innovators, and professionals across Nigeria.”

Prince Okoli-Egbo emphasized the importance of rallying support around the Rector and the newly inaugurated Alumni leadership led by Nze Henry Nnebe. He noted that institutions like Federal Polytechnic Oko must be protected from baseless attacks, especially those targeting the integrity of its certificate. “I am proud of the contributions Oko Polytechnic graduates have made across the media, Nollywood, business, and public service,” he said. “As your senator, if elected on August 16th, I will work hand-in-hand with the leadership of this institution and the alumni body to attract federal attention, resources, and development to our polytechnic and others like it.”

The event also featured the commissioning of the 50-seater Prof. Ugochukwu C. Nzewi Conference Hall and was graced by top dignitaries including the Rector, principal officers of the Polytechnic, the traditional ruler of Ufuma, Igwe Chika Uchime, and former Rector Prof. Nzewi, who was honoured for his contributions to the institution. Prince Okoli-Egbo concluded his remarks with a passionate appeal for stakeholders to put aside past differences and unite for the future of the Polytechnic and the region at large.

Prince Oforbuike Okoli-Egbo was also given an award by the alumni association of Federal Polytechnic Oko for his invaluable services and exceptional contributions to the alumni association.
