As President Bola Tinubu prepares to visit Anambra State, popularly known as the "Light of the Nation," on Thursday, May 8, 2025, the state's security chiefs have convened an emergency meeting to strengthen security arrangements. According to a press statement from the PPRO Anambra state comand SP Tochukwu Ikenga on Monday, May 5, 2025, said that the Anambra State Security Chiefs held a closed-door meeting that lasted for five hours, where they reviewed current security intelligence, assessed threat levels, and implemented fortified security measures within the capital city and strategic locations. The Imo chapter of Young Nigerian Voices today at Heritage Hotel Aladinma Owerri, meet with all the LGA Coordinators, and some ward Coordinators. The meeting was to ensure that the membership drive across the country gained traction with Imo spearheading it.  The state coordinator, Pastor Chika Emedo ( Akapresido) while addressing the gathering urged members to spearhead the fight for effective leadership, free from sabotage.  This call to action emphasizes the crucial role young people play in driving positive change and promoting accountable governance in their communities. In affirmation, many of the LGA Coordinators who attended the meeting commended the efforts of the state coordinator towards activating a formidable front in the fight against bad leadership in the country. The Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra state, under the amiable leadership of the rector, Dr Chioma Irene Awuzie, has presented nine programmes to the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for accreditation. The Anambra State Police Command's Rapid Response Squad/Anti-Kidnapping unit has successfully busted a criminal den in Ukpor, arresting a 35-year-old suspect, Ewulu Chikwo. The suspect allegedly planned to enforce illegal Sit-At-Home in the area and confessed to being a member of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Anambra Sector Command is mourning the loss of eight lives in a fatal crash that occurred on April 27, 2025, along the Nteje-Awka route. The crash involved a Mack tanker and a Toyota Hiace bus, resulting in eight fatalities and six injuries. The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Joyce Nnennaya Alexander, while reacting to the incident urged drivers to prioritize their safety and that of others by maintaining a safe speed and ensuring the road is clear before overtaking. She emphasized that drivers must ensure they drive at a minimum safe speed and only overtake when the road is clear.
