The Nigeria Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders Council Worldwide, (NENYLCW), has urged South-South leaders to intervene in the rift between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.  The youth group said this in a statement made available to journalists on Friday. While expressing concern that the controversy had lingered for so long, the youth organization said it was time for leaders in the oil rich region to call both parties to order and resolve the conflict. The Anambra Joint Security Team has successfully repelled an attack by armed hoodlums at a security checkpoint in Isuofia on May 15, 2025. According to a press statement by the PPRO of the Anambra command SP Tochukwu Ikenga said, that two of the attackers were neutralized, while one security operative was fatally injured and an operational vehicle was set ablaze. According to eyewitnesses, the hoodlums launched a fierce assault on the checkpoint, but the joint security team responded swiftly and effectively, forcing the attackers to flee. The security team recovered one operational vehicle, a Toyota Sienna, abandoned by the hoodlums during their escape. Anambra State Police Commissioner, CP Ikioye Orutugu, condemned the attack, describing it as a test of the collective resolve of Ndi Anambra to work with security forces to eliminate criminal elements in the state. A group of traders at Agboedo United Market F Line Nnewi have taken to the streets to protest alleged extortion and intimidation by officials of the Nnewi North Local Government Area. The traders, who have been operating in the market for over 30 years, claim they are being subjected to unlawful levies and possible eviction.  According to eyewitnesses, the traders gathered at the market entrance, carrying placards with inscriptions such as " We are under peaceful protest, we are no longer happy"  Explain the meaning of revalidation" "Stop Extortion Now" and "We Want Justice." The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared its intention to mobilize at least 35 million voters to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu if he seeks re-election in 2027. This bold move was announced by ADC National Chairman, Ralphs Okey Nwosu, at the party's global summit in Abuja. Nwosu questioned the legitimacy of a presidency secured with fewer than 10 million votes, given the over 88 million registered voters in Nigeria ahead of the 2023 general election. The Youth wing of apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has described as unacceptable the decision by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, to fix a fresh examination for those affected by what it called errors in the recently released results. JAMB Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, had on Wednesday admitted that errors led to the low score of candidates in the five South-East states and Lagos State.  The Board then said arrangement had commenced to reschedule the exam for the affected candidates.
