The Anambra Joint Security Team has successfully repelled an attack by armed hoodlums at a security checkpoint in Isuofia on May 15, 2025. According to a press statement by the PPRO of the Anambra command SP Tochukwu Ikenga said, that two of the attackers were neutralized, while one security operative was fatally injured and an operational vehicle was set ablaze.
According to eyewitnesses, the hoodlums launched a fierce assault on the checkpoint, but the joint security team responded swiftly and effectively, forcing the attackers to flee. The security team recovered one operational vehicle, a Toyota Sienna, abandoned by the hoodlums during their escape.
Anambra State Police Commissioner, CP Ikioye Orutugu, condemned the attack, describing it as a test of the collective resolve of Ndi Anambra to work with security forces to eliminate criminal elements in the state. He assured the public that the command would apprehend the perpetrators.
Calm has been restored to the area, with additional security personnel deployed to comb nearby bushes for possible arrests. Further developments will be communicated accordingly.
