The reported killing of an Igbo trader in Ogun State has attracted condemnations from the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide. The group has therefore issued an ultimatum to the Ogun State Government. It was alleged that the victim, a woman, Blessing Eze, was killed at Ifo Market, in Ogun State by a gang. The armed group, said to be parading as government agents, were said to have stabbed Blessing on the chest, resulting in her death. Sources said her offence was refusing to pay a N1,500 religious levy imposed on the traders at the market. The Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has described as unacceptable the explanation offered by the Enugu State Police Command on the reason for inviting the chairman of Uzo-Uwani local government area, Mr Chijioke Ezugwu.  Ohanaeze youths urged the Inspector General of Police to transfer the Enugu Police Commissioner, accusing him of bias and selective justice.  SaharaReporterts had reported that the chairman was summoned for setting up a vigilante which had been combing the bushes in search of killer herdsmen.  However, in a statement issued by the command, it said the chairman’s summon was over ongoing investigations into the murder of eight persons in a community within Uzo-Uwani LGA, in which the Chairman has been implicated. In a daring operation, at Agulu ezechukwu in Aguata LGA of Anambra state, a joint security team comprising personnel from the Department of State Services, Army, Navy, Civil Defence, and Anambra State Vigilante members, has razed a notorious criminal camp which for years has been a threat to the indigenes of Anambra state. The raid, which took place in the early hours of June 5, 2025, resulted in the neutralization of one armed hoodlum and the recovery of significant stolen items.
