In a daring operation, at Agulu ezechukwu in Aguata LGA of Anambra state, a joint security team comprising personnel from the Department of State Services, Army, Navy, Civil Defence, and Anambra State Vigilante members, has razed a notorious criminal camp which for years has been a threat to the indigenes of Anambra state. The raid, which took place in the early hours of June 5, 2025, resulted in the neutralization of one armed hoodlum and the recovery of significant stolen items. This was disclosed to this medium through a press statement from SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the PPRO of Anambra police command.
The statement stated that the security operatives, in a well-coordinated operation, overran the camp after a seven-hour gun duel with the armed gang members. Among the recovered items were two suspected stolen vehicles - an Ash Toyota Sienna with registration number EKY 03 FF and an unregistered white Mazda Hilux.
He said that additionally, the operatives recovered a motorcycle, household and kitchen items, including pots, gallons, groceries, sleeping mattresses, mechanical tools, clothes, and other incriminating items.
The joint security force is still combing the area, following a trail of fresh blood stains, in a bid to apprehend other fleeing suspects. The operation is a significant blow to the activities of criminal gangs in the area and demonstrates the commitment of the security agencies to restoring peace and security in Anambra State.
The Anambra State Police Command assures the public that the security agencies will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all citizens and residents of the state, the statement concluded.
