The Youth wing of apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has called for calm over the controversy surrounding the installation of a Nigerian traditional leader, Eze Chukwudi Ihenetu, as ‘Eze Ndi Igbo Ghana’ (King of the Igbo People in Ghana). This comes amid the widespread protests and public outcry across parts of Ghana over the installation.  The development, which has drawn criticism from youth groups and cultural advocates, is being opposed by protesters who say the presence of a foreign monarch undermines Ghana’s sovereignty and traditional chieftaincy institutions. In a bid to restore peace and security in Anambra State, the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered a clampdown on unlawful gatherings in the state. This decisive action follows intelligence reports suggesting that cult groups, particularly the Neo-Black Movement of Africa, plan to execute activities that could lead to public disorder. The police commissioner has stepped up security deployment, including the School Protection Squad, to prevent cult initiations and reprisals in student-populated areas. President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio, has been vindicated over the unnecessary attacks on his person and office over the decision of the Senate to reassign a new seat to the suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.  The Federal High Court presided over by Justice Binta Nyako, sitting in Abuja on Friday, gave the Order which vindicated Akpabio in the case filed by Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan to challenge her referral to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions as well as her subsequent suspension.
