FRSC Anambra Recovers Stolen Vehicle, Showcases Power of NVIS Database

Awka, Anambra State – July 16, 2025

In a significant demonstration of technology-driven security enforcement, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Command, has recovered a suspected stolen vehicle through its National Vehicle Identification Scheme (NVIS) Desk Office in Nteje.

The breakthrough came when an agent of the Anambra State Board of Internal Revenue (BIR) submitted a vehicle’s details for routine verification. A check through the NVIS database revealed that the vehicle had been flagged as missing for several years.

Following this discovery, the FRSC promptly contacted the registered owner, who confirmed that the vehicle had been missing for over three years. She presented original ownership documents, leading the FRSC to notify the Nigeria Police for immediate investigation and action.

Sector Commander, Corps Commander Joyce Nnennaya Alexander, hailed the successful recovery as a clear testament to the effectiveness of the NVIS database in tackling vehicle theft.

“This recovery underscores the critical importance of having all vehicles registered and properly uploaded on the NVIS platform,” she said. “We urge all vehicle owners to ensure their number plates and details are correctly documented in the system. It enables faster response and successful recovery of stolen vehicles.”

The FRSC also acknowledged the collaborative support of other security agencies, noting that joint efforts remain central to promoting public safety and restoring trust in the system.

RC Margaret B. Onabe, Sector Public Education Officer of the Anambra State Command, reiterated the Corps’ commitment to leveraging technology and inter-agency cooperation in strengthening road safety and vehicular security across the state.
