The South East Zonal Executive Committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has revealed that two serving governors from the region are set to officially defect to the party in the coming weeks. Speaking to journalists in Owerri over the weekend, the ADC National Vice Chairman for the South East, Hon. Chilos Godsent, confirmed that consultations are ongoing and nearing completion. Five Dead, Several Injured in Tragic Crash Along Nnewi–Okigwe Road

A tragic road crash that occurred on the night of Friday, July 25, 2025, along the Nnewi–Okigwe Road by Amichi has claimed five lives, including three children. According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), through Margaret B. Onabe Sector Public Education Officer FRSC Anambra State Command, ten persons were involved in the fatal accident, which occurred at approximately 9:39 p.m. and was reportedly caused by brake failure. The crash involved a Mercedes-Benz truck (registration number NNE 893 ZG) which lost control at high speed and collided with a Honda motorcycle, a Qlink motorcycle, and several pedestrians. The deceased include two adult males, one male child, and two female children. Five others—comprising adults and children—sustained varying degrees of injury.
