OZIGBO EXTOLS FATHERS AS THE CATHOLIC CHURCH MARKS FATHERING SUNDAY


Valentine Ozigbo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) frontrunner in the 2021 governorship election, on Sunday, May 2, 2021, joined the Roman Catholic faithful worldwide to mark this year's Fathering Sunday. 


While speaking to journalists at St. Jude's Catholic Church, Fegge, Onitsha, where he worshipped, Mr Ozigbo acknowledged the crucial role that father's play in the family and the society describing fathers as "indispensable providers and protectors of our communities."


"Fathers play a significant role in the family and society. They are the pillars that shape our mindset, character, and intellect from the moment we are born," Ozigbo said. 


"There's sufficient evidence to show that an active father figure positively impacts the development of children by way of increased intellectual capabilities, cognitive development, self-esteem, and emotional intelligence. 


"One of the greatest blessings of my life is to be the son of a headmaster and catechist, Chief Andrew Ozigbo, a true father with a rare combination of courage, character, and compassion. His impact on my life is immeasurable, and I am who I am today because he raised me," the respected business leader remarked. 


Ozigbo urged Christian fathers to emulate God the Father, who loves us unconditionally despite our imperfections. He also called for responsible fatherhood, saying that Nigeria's current challenges need strong leadership.


"At a time when our country is reeling from the twin challenges of insecurity and a shrinking economy, we need to promote responsible fatherhood," Ozigbo declared. 


"Fathers need to rise to their responsibilities by providing stability and support to our mothers and our children, playing the indispensable roles of provider and protector, and being positive role models.


"The unique perspective fathers bring to problem-solving should be tapped into to bring lasting peace and prosperity to our land," he said.  


Valentine Ozigbo is the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc and Founder of the eponymously named non-profit charity Valentine Chineto Ozigbo (VCO) Foundation has positively touched the lives of over 150,000 people in Anambra State.

BREAKING: 2Baba Shot Dead In Rivers State

A notorious cult leader and the prime suspect in the brutal murder of the late Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim, in the state, Gift Okpara, popularly referred to as 2Baba, has been reportedly killed in a police-led major security raid. The police and other security agencies were said to have conducted land and aerial raids at the identical hideout of the Iceland cult leader and his gang at Idu-Ekpeye in Ahoada East local government area of Rivers on Saturday, February 17. According to  The Nation , the Iceland cult leader was reportedly feared dead after the operation.   Recall that in September 2023, the late DPO was ambushed and captured by the cult group led by 2Baba in the Odiemudie community, Ahoada East LGA.   2Baba and his gang then took the DPO to the forest, where they killed him and dismembered his body. The cultists then filmed him. Another source, Obi, said he saw no less than 15 vehicles and an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) during the operation.
