The Anambra State Police Command has arraigned four suspects for alleged involvement in separate cases of defilement. The suspects were brought before the Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Court in Awka on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, and were remanded at the Correctional Centre pending further proceedings. Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to protect children and other vulnerable groups in the state. He also warned that anyone found guilty of such crimes would face the full weight of the law. “This Command will not tolerate any form of abuse against children and other vulnerable members of society. Offenders must know that their actions carry consequences, and we are determined to ensure that justice is served,” Orutugu said.
