With few hours left for the August 16th Anambra-South senatorial bye-election, Ogboro ward, one of the 20 wards in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State is set to deliver candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Chief Emmanuel Chibuzor Nwachukwu (Onodugo).
This was the crux of the matter at a prolonged strategic meeting held on Thursday 14th August in Ubahuekwem area of Ihiala where they unanimously resolved to jettison candidates of other political parties but vote massively for the APGA senatorial candidate on Saturday 16th August.
Apart from the bye-election, Ogboro ward also agreed to return Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo and his Deputy Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim on November 8th this year because they are pleased with his administration's achievements.
Addressing the gathering, the political leader in Ihiala, who is also the Chairman of the Anambra State Local Government Service Commission Chief Barr. Vin Ezeaka told the people that it is only the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the entire Southeast geopolitical zone that presents the best brains for elective offices.
Ezeaka opined that public offices are not for touts or spontaneous moneybags with no legitimate source of wealth or individuals with questionable educational backgrounds. He therefore appealed to the people to vote for Emmanuel Nwachukwu and mobilize support for him because he believes the APGA candidate is best suited to represent Anambra-South in the Senate.
Ezeaka also admonished them not to be decieved by those sharing and spreading money around because they are doing so for their own selfish interests.
Meanwhile convener of the meeting and a very strong APGA stakeholder in Ihiala, Barr. Dr. Uzoma Charles Dioha stated that the meeting was to sensitize as well as to correct the wrong impression that APGA was going against Ihiala agenda by not fielding an Ihiala person as the party's candidate.
Dioha maintained that Ogboro ward is supporting the APGA senatorial candidate who hails from Ukpor community in Nnewi-South Local Government Area of the state. He said APGA is the only political party in Anambra State that has the structure to win the senatorial seat.
Dioha who stated that there is no other political party in Ogboro ward except APGA, believes that the meeting would make a difference because they will ensure that Ogboro ward votes overwhelmingly for the All Progressives Grand Alliance ( APGA) and Emmanuel Nwachukwu, the senatorial candidate of the party.
