SOLUDO WINS ANAMBRA GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION IN LANDSLIDE VICTORY

.....APGA candidate sweeps all 21 LGAs, crushes rivals with overwhelming margin

In a sweeping victory that reaffirmed his political dominance, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has been declared the winner of the Anambra State Governorship Election, securing a decisive win across all 21 local government areas of the state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the final results in Awka early Sunday morning, declaring Soludo victorious after collating votes from all LGAs.

According to the official figures released by INEC, a total of 584,054 votes were recorded across the state, with Soludo polling 422,664 votes, a commanding lead over his closest challenger, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 99,445 votes. Other candidates trailed far behind — ADC: 8,208 votes and PDP: 1,401 votes.

The result, observers say, is a landslide victory that underscores Soludo’s stronghold on the state’s political terrain and the enduring popularity of the APGA brand among Anambra’s electorate.

Breakdown of Results by LGA

Soludo’s victory cut across all senatorial zones, sweeping through major LGAs including:

Awka North: APGA 15,895 | APC 3,661

Awka South: APGA 27,896 | APC 5,038

Nnewi North: APGA 20,320 | APC 5,441

Nnewi South: APGA 17,286 | APC 9,281

Idemili North: APGA 25,498 | APC 6,383

Onitsha North: APGA 24,225 | APC 4,677

Anambra West: APGA 71,365 | APC 16,595

The APGA candidate also dominated in Aguata (35,559 votes) — his home LGA — and posted similarly commanding figures in Orumba North (24,664 votes) and Ogbaru (22,803 votes).

The pattern of results showed an overwhelming rejection of the opposition parties, as Soludo’s support base cut across urban and rural communities alike.

INEC Declares Soludo Winner

Declaring the result at the state collation centre, the Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Nnenna Otti, announced Soludo as the duly elected Governor of Anambra State, having satisfied all constitutional requirements and scored the highest number of valid votes.

Celebrations Erupt Across the State

Shortly after the declaration, spontaneous celebrations broke out in major towns including Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi, and Ekwulobia, where jubilant supporters thronged the streets waving APGA flags and chanting solidarity songs.

Residents described the victory as a “people’s mandate revalidated”, applauding INEC for what they called one of the most peaceful and transparent elections in the state’s history.

Political Analysts React

Political analysts have hailed Soludo’s landslide win as both a resounding vote of confidence in his administration and a statement of faith in APGA’s grassroots appeal.

“This is not just a victory for Soludo, it’s a reaffirmation of the APGA identity — the political soul of Anambra,” said Dr. Emma Osondu, a political commentator in Awka.

With this emphatic win, Soludo now secures a fresh mandate to continue his reforms in infrastructure, education, and youth empowerment — policies that have defined his tenure so far.
