The Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, has paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), Awka, Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaechie, as part of efforts to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation in the higher education sector.
Dr. Awuzie was accompanied by senior members of the Polytechnic’s management team, including the Deputy Rector (Administration), Dr. Ferguson Ezeokafor; the Polytechnic Librarian, Dr. Nwabu Ezemba; the Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Kenneth Ezekwe; the Director of ICT, Dr. Amobi Chiamogu; and the Director of TETFund Projects, Dr. Helen Nnabuenyi.
During the visit, the Rector congratulated Professor Anyaechie on his appointment and formally welcomed him to Anambra State, which she described as a state known for its hospitality and strong support for education. She expressed confidence in the Vice-Chancellor’s vision for Nnamdi Azikiwe University and his ability to further reposition the institution for academic excellence.
Dr. Awuzie also noted that the visit opened avenues for stronger collaboration between Federal Polytechnic, Oko and Nnamdi Azikiwe University, particularly in areas such as academic exchange, research partnerships, staff development, and capacity building, in line with national goals for tertiary education advancement.
In his response, Professor Anyaechie expressed delight at the visit and warmly received the Rector and her delegation in the company of members of the university’s management team. He thanked Dr. Awuzie for the gesture and described the engagement as a positive step towards fostering sustainable partnerships among higher institutions in Anambra State.
He further emphasized the importance of cooperation among tertiary institutions to enhance innovation, research output, and human capital development, while expressing optimism that both institutions would explore mutually beneficial initiatives in the near future.
The visit highlighted a shared commitment by both institutions to collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the collective advancement of higher education in the state and the country at large.
