HURIDE Lauds Corp Marshal ...Calls for freee traffic flow this season

The Corp Marshal of Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Dr. Oyeyemi Boboye,  has received rare commendation of Human Right, Liberty Access and Peace Defenders Foundation (HURIDE) for his avowed determination to sanitise the Commission.

The Chairman of Board of Trustees of HURIDE, Dede Uzor A. Uzor, in a statement in FCT Abuja said they were particularly imprressed by  his order to arrest some FRSC officials who were involved in some criminal conducts recently.

He said since inception of Boboye's administration, a  high degree of sanity has returned to the Commission, inspite of the efforts of some bad eggs to rubbish the image of the Commission.

Dede Uzor however urged the Corps Marshal to deploy his professional knowledge to ensure accident frree yuletide this year.

"We are ready for our awards for him and his Commission if carnage on Nigerian roads are reduced by 50 percent this season comparable to other years" said HURIDE boss.

He urged Boboye not to allow his officers and men to join other security operatives to block the Expressways  in the name of checkpoints especially from Lagos to Onitsha, which has become  known for the notorious activities of security operatives in harassing, intimidating and extorting South East and South South bound passengers.

These obnoxious acts of some security operatives, he said, have elicited feciverous complaints from prominent Nigerians and institutions such as the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo,  Chief Nnia Nwodo, the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and some human right groups.

"We advise that the Corp Marshal should embark on a tour of the formation of FRSC in the country as from January 2020 to see for his himself the performance of his operatives and their problems so as to boost their confidence starting from alphabetical order.

We also use this opportunity to commend Bisi Kazeem who is  incharge of the Commission's education and public enlightenment for the professionalism he brings to the job in educating  Nigerians about the activities of the Commission,we urge him to sustain the campaign, Dede Uzor advised.

BREAKING: 2Baba Shot Dead In Rivers State

A notorious cult leader and the prime suspect in the brutal murder of the late Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim, in the state, Gift Okpara, popularly referred to as 2Baba, has been reportedly killed in a police-led major security raid. The police and other security agencies were said to have conducted land and aerial raids at the identical hideout of the Iceland cult leader and his gang at Idu-Ekpeye in Ahoada East local government area of Rivers on Saturday, February 17. According to  The Nation , the Iceland cult leader was reportedly feared dead after the operation.   Recall that in September 2023, the late DPO was ambushed and captured by the cult group led by 2Baba in the Odiemudie community, Ahoada East LGA.   2Baba and his gang then took the DPO to the forest, where they killed him and dismembered his body. The cultists then filmed him. Another source, Obi, said he saw no less than 15 vehicles and an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) during the operation.
