Dr. Chioma Awuzie Foundation Celebrates 52nd Birthday with Scholarship and Charity to indigent students

In a heartfelt celebration of compassion, vision, and service, the Dr. Chioma Awuzie Foundation (DCAF) marked its 2025 Annual Scholarship Award and Charity Programme on Friday, July 18, at the Main Auditorium of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State. The occasion also served as a dual celebration commemorating the 52nd birthday of the foundation’s founder, Dr. Chioma Awuzie.

The event was graced by beneficiaries, community leaders, educational administrators, clergy, and supporters of the foundation’s humanitarian mission, all united by a shared vision of building lives through opportunity, empowerment, and love.
In her moving welcome address, Dr. Chioma Awuzie, an accomplished professional and passionate philanthropist, recalled the foundation's establishment in 2019 as a personal commitment to create impact and inspire transformation.

“We set out to touch lives, to heal, to build, and to restore dignity where despair once reigned,” she stated. “Through the grace of God and the faithful support of Nigerians, DCAF has now become a lifeline for indigent students, widows, struggling mothers, and entire communities. And we are just getting started.”

A major highlight of the day was the award of one-off academic scholarships to 19 indigent but academically promising students from six public tertiary institutions across Anambra State. The full list of this year’s beneficiaries include: Ezeobiaeri Amarachukwu Vivian, Ezeani Faith Chidinma, Chukwunaeke Chibuonu Victoria, Ifeanyi Israel Chidubem, Aguokobia Chinenye Peace, Okoye Favour Chioma, Ezeh Chisom Scholastica, Ezenwa Judith Ujunwa, Nwachukwu Nancy Chinyere, Maduka Chidiebere Godswill, Okafor Chioma Amarachi, Ugochukwu Uchenna Chinyere, Udechukwu Onyinyechi Faith, Mbadugha Onyedikachi Precious, Obidimma Chinenye Anthonia,Okoye Blessing Kosisochukwu, Onyemelukwe Favour Uzoamaka, Onunkwo Nonso Emmanuel, Chukwukelu, Nmesomachukwu Florence

Each beneficiary received a scholarship grant of 150,000 to support their academic journey and were recognized on stage amidst cheers and applause.

Expressing her joy, Ezeani Faith Chidinma, a student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, wjo was one of the beneficiaries said, “I never imagined someone who had never met me could invest in my education. Dr. Chioma has given me hope. God bless her abundantly.”

Chukwunaeke Chibuonu Victoria added, “This scholarship is not just money; it’s a message that someone believes in me. I’ll work hard to make her proud.”


Dr. Awuzie emphasized that the Foundation’s impact extends well beyond academic sponsorship. The 2025 outreach also featured: Distribution of food and gift items to widows and the elderly, provision of childbirth palliatives to expectant mothers. 


She also revealed plans to expand their Free Medical Outreach Programme, which benefited over 500 residents of Awada-Obosi in 2023, to more rural communities in the coming months.


The Chairman of the occasion, Prof. Moses Chendo, Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, lauded the initiative as a worthy example of how education and charity can merge to drive societal change.

“Dr. Awuzie has not only invested in people; she has planted seeds that will yield leadership and transformation,” he said. “On behalf of the academic community, we are proud of her vision. May God strengthen her and expand her reach.”

Also speaking, Reverend Fr. Dr. John Umeojiakor, Chaplain of St. Augustine Catholic Chaplaincy, Federal Polytechnic, Oko, offered a spiritual dimension to the celebration, urging beneficiaries to recognize divine purpose in their selection.

“What you’ve received is a blessing—cherish it, multiply it. Don’t just be helped; become helpers,” he charged.


In a passionate appeal, Dr. Awuzie called on stakeholders government agencies, private sector players, NGOs, and individuals—to partner with DCAF and make the vision sustainable.

“No amount is too small to change a life. With your support, we can touch more lives, educate more students, and transform more communities,” she said.



In her closing remarks, Dr. Awuzie thanked the staff and management of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, the DCAF Board of Trustees, volunteers, and her partners. She urged the beneficiaries to remain focused, determined, and grateful.

“Your story is valid. Your dreams are achievable. And your future is worth fighting for. May this support be the first of many victories in your journey,” she concluded.

The 2025 DCAF Day ended on a high note filled with dancing, testimonies, prayers, and laughter, a celebration not just of charity, but of renewed possibilities.
