Dr Umeadi Applauded for Service, Successor Ezeobi Takes NUJ Honour

High Chief Dr. Chinedu Anthony Umeadi, founder of the Dr. Chinedu Umeadi Foundation and recipient of the 2024 Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Man of the Year Award, has been commended for his exemplary service throughout his tenure as the award holder.

Dr. Umeadi, who officially handed over to the 2025 award winner at the International Conference Centre, Awka, on Thursday, August 28, expressed gratitude to the NUJ Anambra State Council for their unwavering commitment to the development of the state and their wider role in nation-building.

In his valedictory remarks, Dr. Umeadi described his recognition in 2024 as an honour that spurred him to deepen his contributions to society. He also congratulated the 2025 Man of the Year, Architect Okey Ezeobi, describing him as “a passionate humanitarian committed to service for the good of humanity,” while urging him to sustain impactful initiatives.

As a mark of appreciation, the Anambra State NUJ Chairman, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, presented Dr. Umeadi with a Certificate of Commendation in recognition of his contributions to journalism, state development, and the progress of the Union.




In the same vein the Anambra State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) named Mr. Ezeobi, Procurement Officer of Anambra State, as its Man of the Year 2025 in recognition of his professionalism and transparency in managing the procurement affairs of the state government.

The honour was conferred during a ceremony in Awka, attended by journalists, government officials, and stakeholders.

In his remarks, Dr. Emeka Odogwu, Chairman of NUJ Anambra Council, described Ezeobi as “a shining example of integrity and excellence in public service,” noting that his strict adherence to due process and accountability has greatly strengthened good governance in the state.

Dr. Odogwu explained that the award was not just a personal recognition, but also a celebration of professionalism in the state’s civil service. He urged other public officers to emulate Ezeobi’s dedication and commitment to the greater good of Ndi Anambra.

In his response, Ezeobi thanked the NUJ for the honour, dedicating the award to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo and the state executive team for their support. He also commended journalists for their watchdog role in deepening democracy, pledging to continue upholding transparency and accountability in his duties.

The event featured goodwill messages from dignitaries and colleagues, who described Ezeobi as a diligent officer whose recognition is both timely and well-deserved.  

The event drew an array of dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, who represented Governor Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo; Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze; Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor; Chairman of the Anambra State Council of Traditional Rulers, Igwe Dr. Iweka; as well as Prof. Stella Okunna, captains of industry, religious leaders, and top government officials.

Tension In Uruagu Nnewi As Community Leaders Dare Soludo,Defy Court Order

The President of Uruagu-Nnewi Development Union, Chief Sunday Okoli aka Organizer, and the Obi of Uruagu-Nnewi community in Nnewi North local government area of Anambra State, His Majesty Afamefuna Charles Obi, have swept Soludo's directive to the gutters, by reason of their suspension and subsequent dessolution of the leadership of the community's youth forum, led by Ejike Ifejiofor, and subsequent appointment of caretaker executive to pilot the affairs of youths in the community.
