In line with the governor's impactful act on healthcare in Anambra State. The Honourable Commissioner of Health. Dr Afam Obidike commissioned a housing quarters for a primary health care centre in Awka etiti courtsey of Hon. Amaka Obi, the local government chairman of Idemili South LGA.
In her welcome address to the commissioner, the local government chairperson thanked the honourable commissioner for finding time to come and commission the project despite his tight schedule. She said that the facility was built to complement the efforts of the state government in the area of healthcare, especially as it concerns women's health and in line with the state government resolve at Idemili South marking the flag off of the free medicals for women especially on antenatal and delivery of children which is now free in Anambra.
She stressed that the facility will help facilitate 24hrs healthcare in Awka Etiti and environs and called on the people of the community to help support the drive of Governor Soludo’s administration to achieve better results for the people.
In his speech, the commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike thanked the local government chairperson for her doggeness and zeal. He said that it's commendable for her to have thought it wise to build comfortable quarters for the health workers to have a conducive environment to aid their work in the primary health centre. He stressed that Idemili South LGA remains a place of attraction for the government of the state as he promised to ensure deliver an ambulance to the Nnobi health centre when delivery commences. He stated that the state government also delivered ultrasound equipment for the Nnobi General Hospital.
Dr Afam Obidike, however, commended the staff of the PHC for their doggeness and prayed God to keep them as their rewards will definitely come one day. He stressed that in the second batch of the intervention initiative of the government to rehabilitate PHCs in the state that the Awka Etiti health centre will be included. He therefore called on the people to support the affairs of the state government towards development of the state. He commissioned the building to the glory of God and humanity and charged them to use it appropriately.
In the same view, Mrs Ezechukwu Apollnia, the staff nurse in charge of the facility, thanked Hon. Amaka Obi for finding it worthy to build the facility. She stressed that when she started work at the facility that it was not easy managing the affairs of the facility as the health centre run a 24 hours service but is happy that this facility is in place now and will better their service to the people. She said that they cater for all healthcare services aside from operations, which is referenced to the general hospital at Nnobi and other health facilities around. He called on the state government to ensure that adequate security is as well provided for them in the facility.
