Sabotage Allegations: EEDC Sets the Record Straight

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has strongly refuted allegations by the Imo State Government that it plans to orchestrate a massive power outage in the state to sabotage the government's Light Up Imo electricity project.

In a press statement signed by Emeka Ezeh, Group Head of Corporate Communications, EEDC described the allegations as "baseless, unfounded, and completely devoid of truth."

The company accused the Imo State Government of spreading propaganda to divert public attention and mask its longstanding hostility towards EEDC.

EEDC cited a recent incident where armed policemen allegedly acting on the government's instructions forced the shutdown of the Transmission Company of Nigeria's Egbu Station, plunging customers into darkness.

The company assured customers that it has no plans for major outages in Imo State and is committed to providing sustainable and improved electricity distribution.


The Imo State Government had alleged that EEDC plans to carry out a massive power outage to sabotage the Light Up Imo project, claiming that the company wants to maintain its monopoly over electricity distribution in the state.

However, EEDC has denied these allegations, saying that the government is trying to frustrate its operations and undermine its commitment to serving customers.

As the dispute escalates, customers are left wondering what will happen next. Will the Imo State Government provide evidence to support its allegations ?

One thing is certain: the people of Imo State deserve better than to be used as pawns in a game of political one-upmanship. They deserve reliable electricity and transparent governance.

EEDC's position is clear, that there is no plan whatsoever by EEDC to carry out any major outage in Imo State. That EEDC is committed to serving its customers and continues to make significant investments aimed at improving supply reliability and overall service quality across the state.

The ball is now in the Imo State Government's court to prove its allegations or apologize for the misinformation.

Federal Polytechnic Oko Holds Two-Day Recruitment Interview to Address Staff Shortages
