I Predicted Soludo's Reelection In September This Year -- PG Umueri

By Raymond Ozoji, Awka

The President-General of Umueri General Assembly in Anambra-East Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chief Amb. Dr. John Metchie has said that he predicted Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo's reelection in September this year during the 2025 Umueri New Yam Festival Celebration.

Metchie said he predicted Soludo's historic reelection victory when he told journalists while responding to questions from them during the community's new yam festival this year that the governor had already won the November 8th governorship election because there is absolutely no one contesting with him or against him.

Metchie who spoke exclusively with this journalist in his country home Ezi-Umueri, recalled that he had made it categorically clear that there is no vacancy for now in the Light House Awka and that anyone else seeking to be governor should go to states like Kaduna and try their luck because Anambra state has been taken by Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo.

He maintained that Soludo's electoral conquest didn't come to him as a surprise because nobody believed he could turn the entire Anambra state into one construction site instituting infrastructures and other amenities in all its nooks and crannies.

He said that the governor's achievements in security, infrastructure, education, healthcare and others were all monumental because the state now have systems that work compared to what was the order of the day before his regime.

Metchie who described the November 8th governorship contest in Anambra as a testament and confirmation of the people's belief in the policies and programmes of the Soludo administration, noted that the citizens made a bold and declarative statement that the governor has done well and deserves another term in office; as reflected in the massive votes he garnered in the election.

The community leader therefore emphasized that the entire Umueri community trooped out en masse to cast their votes for Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) even when their kinsman was also a candidate in the election.

He said apart from ensuring that Umueri people voted the governor massively, he equally made sure that the governor won in his own polling unit at Umueri public square 1 (004) where APGA got 60 votes to beat APC that had 11 votes, YPP 43 votes, PDP 1 vote, amongst others.

Metchie who thanked his support group members for mobilising the grassroots for Governor Soludo, urged him to sustain the tempo of development as he embarks on his second missionary journey to achieve the promised Dubai-Taiwan in Anambra state even as he reminded the governor of the promise he made to construct the link road to Chinua Achebe Airport Umueri.
