Alleged Murder in Nnewi: Police Commissioner Sues for Calm, Assures Justice

The Anambra State Police Command said its investigating a tragic incident that occurred on April 15, 2025, at Ibeto junction, Nnewi, where a security operative allegedly shot and killed a lady named Chiamaka Okeke. Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, through the the command's PPRO SP Ikenga Tochukwu has appealed for calm and assured the public that the command is working with the relevant security outfit to identify the suspect and ensure justice is served. 


According to reports, the incident happened when a security operative, reportedly from the Operation Udo Ga – Achi security outfit, fired shots to clear traffic for their patrol vehicle, tragically hitting and killing Chiamaka Okeke. The police command has confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and further updates will be shared as more information becomes available. 


CP Orutugu, however emphasized the command's commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting lives. The police are working diligently to bring the perpetrator to justice and provide closure for the victim's family. The command's Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the police would communicate further developments to the public. 

 
As the investigation continues, the police command urges the public to remain calm and cooperative. The authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
