Anambra State Police Launch Operation Udo Ga Chi to Combat Kidnapping and Violent Crimes

The Anambra State Police Command has launched a new operation, "Operation Udo Ga Chi," aimed at eradicating kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state. This proactive initiative is designed to provide a safe environment for residents, particularly during the Easter festivities. 

In a press release made available to newsmen in Awka, Anambra state capital, the state command's PPRO SP Ikenga Tochukwu said the key components of Operation Udo Ga Chi includes,multi-Agency approach, as the operation involves collaboration with various security agencies, including the Army, Navy, Department of State Service, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Services (NIS), Nigerian Correctional Service, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and Anambra State Vigilante.
He however stressed that intelligence-Driven approach will be used for the operation which will utilize intelligence gathering, stop-and-search operations, and targeted patrols to identify and apprehend criminals.
He futher stated for the required impact community engagement with residents is encouraged and asked residents to report suspicious activities to the Joint Security Information Room through designated phone numbers: Police: 07039194332, NDLEA, 09136832679, NSCDC, 08066769442, FRSC: 122, Anambra State Vigilantes, 511 and 122.

He futher stated that enhanced security measures in collaboration with Divisional Police Officers and other security agencies have been directed to conduct raids on identified criminal hotspots and flashpoints in the state. 

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu FWC MINPS PhD, also expressed heart felt gratitude to the state government for their support in fixing operational vehicles and armored personnel carriers, enabling the police to effectively execute their duties.
