Okpuno - Awka Land Dispute: 2 Dead,one Injured Police Takes Swift Action

A violent land dispute in Okpuno-Awka, Anambra State, has resulted in the deaths of two persons, while another is receiving treatment in the hospital. The incident occurred on June 3, 2025, when armed suspects attacked the victims with pump action guns.

The Anambra State Police Command has taken swift action, recovering one automatic pump action gun from the scene and apprehending five suspects. The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation as the police work to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.

*Investigation Underway*

The Commissioner of Police has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, for a comprehensive investigation. The police are also working to arrest other fleeing suspects, and necessary measures have been put in place to ensure their apprehension.

*Victims Recovered*

The bodies of the two victims have been recovered and deposited at the morgue, while the injured person is receiving treatment in the hospital. The police will provide further updates as the investigation progresses.
