The Anambra Democratic Movement (ADM) has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State to as a matter of urgency promote his Senior Special Adviser on Community Security, Engr Kenneth Emekayi, to the position of Commissioner to fill the gap occasioned by the exit of the immediate past Commissioner for Homeland Security, Hon Chikodili Anere.
ADM which spoke through its President, High Chief Uzoma Anunihu, after their expanded quarterly general meeting at Nnewi weekend urged the Governor to exercise strong political will in this matter to help encourage hardworking Emekayi led AGUNAECHEMBA in the State.
It could be recalled that when Emekayi took over few months ago, criminals were in control of over 16 Local Government Areas of the State.
But immediately assumed office he moved into action, reorganising the Anambra Vigilant Group and forcefully lunched ferocious attack against criminals and the so called unknown GunMen (UGM) who were taking citizens into hostage maiming, kidnapping and terrorising them unabated
Emekayi-led Agunechemba launched ferocious attack on their hideouts and operational camps, this time they were not allowed to operate freely rather, attacks were being lunched into their different operational camps, arrested most of them who refused to surrender and hand over their weapons to the authorities.
Consequently , the criminal activities reduced dramatically to few local government Areas, like Ogbaru, Umunze, Ogbunka among other flash points in Orumba North and South Local Governments and Ihiala local government Area respectively.
These three Local Governments are facing sporadic attacks on the criminal elements by Emekayi led AGUNAECHEMBA with other joint security operatives in the State with assurance that soonest, the Local governments in question woukd be liberated.
ADM stated that they would be very grateful if Governor Soludo promotes Emekayi as it would encourage him to do more and put extra effort in fighting criminal elements as well as those who refused to surrender their operational weapons inview of ongoing Amnesty granted to them earlier.
