Prince Oforbuike Okoli-Egbo Joins Candlelight Rally in Honour of Late Onyekere Onyekachi, Urges Improved Security in Anambra

Prince Oforbuike Okoli-Egbo, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate for the upcoming Anambra South Senatorial District bye-election, has lent his voice to the ongoing call for justice following the tragic killing of Onyekere Onyekachi, popularly known as Fishmagnet.

Speaking during a candlelight rally held in honour of the late entrepreneur, by Martins Vincent Otse otherwise known as VeryDarkMan, Prince Okoli-Egbo expressed deep sorrow over the loss of a vibrant and promising young man. He commended the presence of social media activist Mr. Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, who travelled to Anambra to show solidarity with the grieving community.

“Though I may not agree with everything VeryDarkMan stands for, I commend his courage and commitment to justice in this instance,” Prince Okoli-Egbo stated.

Addressing journalists at the event, the YPP senatorial hopeful raised concerns about the current state of insecurity in Anambra. While acknowledging the efforts of Governor Charles Soludo’s administration, he emphasized the need for a more robust response to security threats.

“Security is a shared responsibility, and while I appreciate the steps taken so far, the tempo must not drop. The Udoaghi security outfit introduced by this administration brought some relief, but the momentum needs to be sustained,” he said.

Prince Okoli-Egbo also noted that the previous administration under Governor Willie Obiano made commendable efforts, but credited the Soludo administration for opening access to areas previously unreachable due to insecurity. He, however, stressed that more needs to be done to protect the lives and property of Anambra residents.

“The government must intensify efforts and reinvigorate the security architecture to meet the rising demands of our time,” he added.

The candlelight rally served as a moment of reflection for many in attendance, reigniting conversations around the security of young people in the region and the need for stronger community-based interventions.
