Popular social media activist and commentator, Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has arrived in Anambra State, sparking conversation and controversy as he addressed the growing insecurity in the region. His visit comes in the wake of the tragic and brutal killing of Onyekachi Martin Onyekere, popularly known as Fishmagnet, the son of the APGA Woman Leader in Anambra.
Speaking in a video that has since gone viral, VeryDarkMan condemned what he described as the "unwanton and senseless killing" of innocent citizens in the state. He specifically referenced the death of Fishmagnet, who was reportedly gunned down under suspicious circumstances that have shocked the community and drawn widespread condemnation.
“This is not just about one man; this is about the state of Anambra and the lives that continue to be lost needlessly. How can a young man, the son of a respected party leader, be killed in cold blood with no answers? Where is the security? Where is the justice?” Otse demanded.
He further called on the Anambra State Government and the security agencies to act swiftly and transparently, not only to investigate Fishmagnet’s killing but to address the larger issues of insecurity plaguing the state. “You can’t talk about development in a place where life has no value,” he said.
VeryDarkMan’s visit has drawn mixed reactions, with some praising his courage in speaking truth to power, while others have called for restraint and respect for local processes. However, the growing pressure from citizens and public figures alike is a clear signal that the people of Anambra are demanding accountability.
As investigations into the killing of Onyekachi Martin Onyekere continue, many are watching closely to see if justice will be served—and whether Otse’s bold intervention will help push the needle toward meaningful action on security in the state.
